How to change my pH level in my 75 galon?

My pH level is very low for cichlid right now it's 6.5 i need it to be about 7.0 so how can i raise itHow to change my pH level in my 75 galon?
You can add crushed limestone, seashells or coral to the tank, The lime in these will dissolve in the low pH water and raise the pH. This is a slow process, but you cant add too much, because if pH does get up to 8.0, then the lime stops dissolving.



If that doesn't do the job, you need to add African Cichlid Salts to the water each water change. Dont dose the tank in one big hit as it will shock the fish. You will need to dose the new water each time you do a water change. So mix up the new water to the correct pH (about 8.0) and hardness, then do the partial change. Keep doing this and the tank will quickly stabilise around that level. You are going to have to keep dosing the tank to replace the salt that is removed each water change.



It is possible to mix you own cichlids salts, main ingredients are Baking soda, epsom salts and plain salt. Do a searh for DIY cichlid salt and you will find recipes with the exact amounts needed.



Normally I tell people to leave the tank pH alone, but African ciclids do prefer hard and high pH water. Just make sure you know what you are doing when you mess with the pH and dont make any sudden large changes to the water parameters.

You can try baking soda to raise it or lemon juice to lower it.. i've not tried them out so not sure how well they work lol.



Best to use pH buffers from the aquarium stores.
well 6.5 is not that low.the cichlids can stand those ph but if you really want to change it so you won't worry then i recommend for you to buy some chemicals that they sell in petstores like petco that will either raise the ph or lower it or there are some that will just set it to a certain ph.so you can use either of those.i wouldn't really use baking soda.i would preferably use correct ph or ph rise.hope you find what you are looking for.
